Mini split air conditioning systems providing both
heating and cooling give very good heating efficiency
values especially considering the United Kingdom's moderate
winter conditions.
For instance, with electrical heating, for every 1kW
of heating you would pay for that 1kW supplied. However,
heating with an air conditioning system, you will be
only paying for approximately 0.4kW for every 1kW of
heating.
This is because the air conditioner is not creating
all of each kW of heat as such, rather, it is simply
moving existing heat from the outdoor air to the indoor
air. During heating all the system does is reverse the
cooling process so that it instead cools the outdoor
air and in turn warms the indoor air - taking heat from
the outside to deposit on the inside. Why pay the utilities
to deliver heat when you already have plenty right outside
the front door?
